Dorset Police are appealing for witnesses after an 18-year-old motorcyclist was left with potentially life-threatening injuries following a collision on Hurn Road in East Dorset on Saturday 11 April 2026.

Emergency services were called to the scene at 4.18pm after a white KTM motorcycle crashed while travelling between the junctions of Avon Avenue and Avon Castle Road. The teenager was taken to hospital for treatment, and his family has been informed of the incident.

The road was closed for approximately four hours to allow for an investigation into the collision, with the route reopening at around 8.30pm on Saturday. The incident occurred during the spring, a time of year that the Dorset Road Safe Partnership identifies as particularly dangerous for riders as they return to the roads following the winter break.

Authorities have highlighted that motorcyclists in the county face a higher risk of being killed or critically injured per mile travelled compared to other road users.

The Dorset Police Roads Policing Team is currently investigating the circumstances of the crash. Anyone who witnessed the incident or who has relevant dashcam footage is asked to contact police online, by email at [email protected], or by calling 101 and quoting incident number 11:323. Information can also be provided anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
