Residents of Northampton can expect a brief period of unsettled weather this week, with heavy rain and wind arriving Tuesday night before conditions improve for the weekend. According to the Met Office, the rainfall is expected to intensify throughout Tuesday night, with a 90% chance of precipitation at midnight heading into Wednesday, 15 April 2026.

Wednesday morning will bring difficult travel conditions, as visibility is forecast to drop to as low as 2.3 kilometres amid intense rain and near-saturated humidity levels of 98%. Those heading out on Wednesday should also prepare for stronger winds, with gusts expected to reach up to 33mph by mid-afternoon.

The wet weather will be short-lived, however, as the area moves into a drier pattern starting Thursday. Residents can look forward to sunny intervals and mild temperatures that will range between 15°C and 17°C for the remainder of the week. This shift toward more stable conditions will likely make for a better weekend for outdoor plans.

While the incoming rain may provide temporary relief, high pollen levels are expected to persist throughout the week. With April 2026 already marking the warmest start to the month in 80 years, many of the estimated 13 million hay fever sufferers in the UK have faced an earlier start to their symptoms. The Met Office has recorded high pollen levels for Northampton on Thursday and Friday, as birch and ash trees continue to release pollen across the region.
