Residents in Milton Keynes should prepare for unsettled conditions this week as the Met Office forecasts a mix of rain and gusty winds following a recent spell of unusually warm weather.

Tuesday, 14 April, is expected to remain overcast with temperatures reaching 14°C and wind gusts of up to 27mph. While the chance of rain remains at 30 per cent during the middle of the day, conditions are set to change significantly by Wednesday, 15 April.

Wednesday is forecast to be the warmest day of the week, with temperatures hitting 17°C. However, the Met Office warns of heavy rain and stronger winds moving through the area during the afternoon, with a 95 per cent chance of precipitation between 3pm and 4pm. According to Met Office Chief Forecaster Paul Gundersen, temperatures across many areas could drop by approximately 10°C in the transition from Wednesday to Thursday as cooler air moves in.

The unsettled weather follows a record-breaking period for the UK earlier this month, when temperatures reached 26.6°C at Kew Gardens on 8 April. As the region transitions away from that heat, the forecast for Thursday, 16 April, through Saturday, 18 April, indicates a return to more typical spring conditions with sunny intervals and scattered showers.

Throughout the week, local residents are advised that UV levels will remain moderate during midday hours, suggesting the use of sunscreen. Pollen levels are also expected to fluctuate, remaining high for most of the week but dropping to moderate levels on Wednesday.
