Young dancers in Welwyn Garden City have the chance to take to the stage this year, as Campus West has announced open auditions for its upcoming Christmas pantomime, Dick Whittington.

The theatre is looking for junior dancers between the ages of 9 and 13 to join the production. Auditions will take place at the venue on Sunday 10 May 2026, beginning at 10am. Those interested in participating must register online via the Campus West website by the deadline of Sunday 3 May 2026.

On the day of the auditions, participants are asked to arrive at the venue by 9:30am. The process may continue until 3pm, and parents or guardians are required to remain on-site for the duration of the event. As these are performance roles, successful candidates will need to obtain a chaperone licence from Hertfordshire County Council before rehearsals begin in November 2026. The roles are unpaid and intended for young people seeking professional theatre experience.

This year’s production carries special significance for writer and director Jonas Cemm, who is co-writing the script with Joe Sargent of JoJo Panto Scripts. It marks a decade since Mr Cemm first performed at the theatre in the very same show, playing the role of Alderman Fitzwarren in 2016. Since 2021, the creative duo has been responsible for the annual festive productions at the venue, which is operated by Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council.
