Southend United striker Slavi Spasov has been named the 2025-2026 Community Champion by the Professional Footballers’ Association. The award recognises the Bulgarian forward for his dedication to supporting local residents alongside his commitments on the pitch.
The honour is presented by the Professional Footballers’ Association to players who demonstrate outstanding commitment to their local communities. The Southend United Community Foundation, which is the official charity of the club, nominated Spasov for his efforts throughout the current season.
The foundation was established in 2004 and operates across South East Essex to deliver programmes focused on sports participation, health and wellbeing, education and training, and community cohesion. Its work is currently driven by a goal known as the Million Mission, which aims to engage one million people through the Southend United brand by 2026.
Spasov joined the club at the end of the 2024/25 season. In addition to his community work, the striker has made an impact for the team during their campaign in the National League, including scoring a notable last-minute winner against Yeovil Town in November 2025.
