Parents and carers in Wolverhampton are invited to a free information session on 22 April 2026 to learn more about proposed national changes to support services for children with special educational needs and disabilities.

The Wolverhampton Information, Advice and Support Service is hosting the event from 10:00am to 11:30am at the Cherry Street SEND and Sensory Hub. The session is designed to help local families understand how the government’s recent plans could affect their children and how they can share their feedback during the ongoing consultation process.

The reforms were outlined in the government’s February 2026 schools paper, titled Every Child Achieving and Thriving. With roughly one in five children across England currently identified as having special educational needs, officials are encouraging local input before the formal consultation period ends on 18 May 2026.

Councillor Jacqui Coogan, the City of Wolverhampton Council Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Education, highlighted the importance of local participation. She noted that national policy changes will directly impact how these services are delivered within the city and encouraged families to ensure their voices are heard.

This event provides a platform for families to discuss these updates with professional support staff. Booking for the session is required and can be completed online via Eventbrite. Attendees are encouraged to book early to secure their space.
