Huddersfield residents can expect a shift in the weather this week, moving from showery conditions on Monday to warmer, sunny spells from Wednesday onwards. According to the Met Office, which recently implemented a significant upgrade to its forecasting systems, the town will experience a gradual rise in temperatures over the coming days.

Monday 20 April is bringing light showers to the area, with the chance of rain increasing from 30 per cent at 1pm to 80 per cent between 3pm and 7pm. Temperatures will sit at 13°C for both Monday and Tuesday. Residents sensitive to pollen should be aware that levels are currently high due to birch pollen, though these are expected to drop to moderate on Tuesday and reach a low level by Wednesday.

From Wednesday 22 April, the weather in Huddersfield is forecast to improve significantly. The week will turn mainly dry with sunny spells developing increasingly through each afternoon through to the weekend. Temperatures will climb from 15°C on Wednesday to a peak of 16°C by Thursday and Friday.

While the sunnier weather provides an opportunity for outdoor plans, the Met Office advises that UV levels will be moderate throughout the week. Residents are encouraged to take care during the middle of the day and use sunscreen if spending extended periods outdoors.

The Met Office, which is recognised as a leading global forecast provider, updated this information at 7:06am on 20 April 2026. This improved outlook follows a recent expansion of the organisation’s technical capabilities, described by the service as the most significant development in its forecasting systems for many years.
