Polling Stations Announced for Three Telford By-elections

Voters in three wards across Telford will head to the polls on Thursday 30 April 2026 to fill vacancies on their local parish and town councils. Telford & Wrekin Council has confirmed that elections will take place in the Smallhill Road Ward, Newport South Ward, and Lightmoor Ward, following the resignations of three sitting councillors.

Polls will be open for residents to cast their votes from 7:00 am until 10:00 pm. The elections are being overseen by Returning Officer David Sidaway.

The polling station for the Smallhill Road Ward by-election, representing Dawley Hamlets Parish Council, is located at Horsehay Village Golf Club on Wellington Road. Five candidates are standing for this seat: Archie Barnett for the Liberal Democrats, Byron Cooke for Labour, Jack Hudson for the Local Conservatives, Gill Owen for the Green Party, and Gary Stackhouse for Reform UK.

In the Newport South Ward, voters for the Newport Town Council seat will cast their ballots at the Newport Bowling Club on Granville Avenue. The candidates for this ward are David Ellams representing the Liberal Democrat Focus Team, Sara Giles for the Green Party, Parwiz Karimi for the Local Conservatives, Stephen Lumley for Labour, and independent candidate Matthew Swift.
