Crime in Wolverhampton city centre increased by approximately 11 per cent in February 2026, according to data released by West Midlands Police.

The total number of reported incidents rose from 175 in January to 195 in February. Violence and sexual offences remained the most common types of crimes reported, accounting for 81 of the cases in February. Other contributing factors to the rise included 22 reports of shoplifting and 18 reports of public order offences.

The Wolverhampton City Centre Neighbourhood Policing Team, which includes officers, police community support officers, a sergeant, and local action team members, continues to patrol the area seven days a week to address incidents and provide visibility. The force is currently led by Acting Chief Constable Scott Green following the retirement of Chief Constable Craig Guildford in January 2026.

To address issues including anti-social behaviour and retail crime, the police have partnered with the City of Wolverhampton Council on the Safer Streets initiative. Authorities encourage residents and visitors to stay alert and report any suspicious activity to help improve safety in the city centre.
