Parents across Swindon received their primary school offers on Thursday 16 April 2026, marking the annual national day for children starting Reception this September. According to Swindon Borough Council, 99.3 per cent of children in the area were successful in securing a place at one of their three preferred schools, with 95.5 per cent of families receiving their first choice.

Local schools, including Drove Primary School and Wanborough Primary School, are advising families to respond to their offers as soon as possible. Accepting the place by the stated deadline is essential to ensure the offer is secured for the upcoming academic year.

For families who did not receive an offer from one of their preferred schools, there is an option to join a waiting list. Additionally, parents have the right to appeal the decision, but any appeal forms must be submitted to the council by 14 May 2026. These appeals are expected to be heard between late June and 16 July 2026.

The application process for these places closed on 15 January 2026. Any applications submitted after this date are being treated as late by the local authority.
