Drivers in Wolverhampton should prepare for the closure of the Rufford Road car park this weekend as essential maintenance work takes place. The site will be closed to all motorists from the evening of Saturday 25 April 2026 until the morning of Monday 27 April 2026.

Transport for West Midlands, which manages the site, stated the closure is necessary to keep the car park in good condition. While the organisation noted that such work causes temporary disruption, it is part of an ongoing effort to maintain their network of over 9,000 spaces across more than 65 locations.

Those who rely on the Rufford Road site for park and ride services will need to make alternative arrangements for the weekend. The regional transport authority points out that free parking is available at most rail stations across its network. Additionally, commuters can use free tram stop parking at The Hawthorns, Wednesbury Parkway, Black Lake, Bradley Lane, and Priestfield.

For those looking for options in the city centre, the City of Wolverhampton Council recently introduced reduced evening parking fees. Motorists can park for £2 between 5pm and 5am at most council-owned car parks. These changes follow a shift in the local parking landscape after National Car Parks closed its Pipers Row facility in late March.
