Two people have been jailed following a knifepoint robbery that targeted a taxi driver in the Quedgeley area of Gloucester last year. Justin Francis, 39, of Chequers Road, and Tiffany Davis, 36, were sentenced at Bristol Crown Court on 21 April 2026 for the attack, which took place on 17 September 2025.

The incident occurred as the driver pulled into Valley Gardens. During the robbery, Francis held a knife to the driver’s throat while threatening him. At the same time, Davis moved to deliberately pull down the taxi’s internal camera system to prevent the incident from being recorded.

Fearing for his safety, the driver handed over £70 in cash and escaped the vehicle. He later returned after witnessing Francis enter a nearby block of flats. Both defendants admitted to the robbery charge last month, and Francis also pleaded guilty to possessing a bladed article in a public place.

Francis received a four-and-a-half-year prison sentence, and Davis was sentenced to four years. Both individuals were also issued five-year restraining orders, which prohibit them from making any contact with the victim.

According to the lead investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Jon Stokes of the Gloucestershire Constabulary, the victim was simply carrying out his job when he was confronted. Authorities noted that the sentencing brings justice for the victim and serves to improve public safety.
