Bus passengers in Colchester will see a change to their local transport services this summer as operator Konectbuses rebrands to Central Connect. The company announced the upcoming change on 21 April 2026, stating that the new identity is intended to provide a clear, long-term direction for its bus network.

The rebranding follows the acquisition of the operator’s parent company, Go East Anglia, by Transport Made Simple in October 2025. This marks the second time in less than a year that the service has changed its name, following the transition from Hedingham & Chambers to Konectbuses in June 2025.

Despite the change in name, residents can expect current services to continue without disruption. Routes serving Colchester city centre, Greenstead, The Hythe, West Mersea, and connections to Clacton and surrounding villages will remain in operation. The company also confirmed that its local depots in Clacton, Kelvedon, and Sible Hedingham will stay open.

The service remains part of a transport network with deep roots in the region, tracing its history back to the Chambers horse-drawn bus business established in 1877 and Hedingham Omnibuses, founded by veteran Aubrey Letch in 1921. The operator is now managed under the wider Central Connect brand, which is part of the independent transport group based in the East Midlands and East of England.
