The City of York Council has announced that its Online Planning Register will be unavailable on 28 April 2026 to allow for essential maintenance.

The digital service, which is used to view planning records and submit comments on current applications, will be offline for the day. While the online system is down, the council has provided alternative ways for residents to stay engaged with the planning process.

Those wishing to submit comments on planning applications can send them via email to [email protected]. Residents who prefer to view applications in person can visit Explore York library branches or use the self-serve points available at the Customer Centre at West Offices. The customer centre is open Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm, (9.30am on Thursdays) though some services require an appointment.

For further assistance, the council advises that planning enquiries can be directed to the planning department by calling 01904 551553, emailing [email protected], or by post to Development Management, City of York Council, West Offices, Station Rise, York YO1 6GA.
