Residents in Wolverhampton will have the opportunity to enjoy outdoor theatre this summer as Folksy Theatre brings a production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream to the grounds of Wightwick Manor and Gardens. The performances will take place on Friday 24 July and Saturday 25 July 2026, offering families and theatre enthusiasts a chance to experience the Shakespearean classic in a historic setting.

The shows will be held on the Thimbles Lawn from 7:00pm to 9:30pm each evening, with a 15-minute interval included. Because the event is outdoors, attendees are required to bring their own folding chairs and picnic blankets. The manor’s tearoom will be open to provide take-away refreshments for those attending.

Tickets are currently available through the theatre company’s booking system, and organisers note that booking in advance is essential. Adult tickets are priced at £20.00, while tickets for children between the ages of 3 and 16 are £13.00. (Plus booking fees) Children under the age of 3 are admitted free of charge. The performances will proceed in all weather conditions, with the exception of fork lightning.

Wightwick Manor provides a unique backdrop for the play, as the site features gardens specifically planted with flowers and herbs inspired by Shakespeare. The manor, built between 1887 and 1893, is a notable example of the Arts and Crafts movement and is home to a significant collection of Pre-Raphaelite art. On the days of the performances, the site will close at 5:00pm to prepare for the event and will reopen to ticket holders at 6:00pm. A golf buggy will be available for any visitors who require assistance with mobility.
