Community groups in Kirklees are being invited to apply for financial support to help them thank their volunteers during this year’s national Volunteers’ Week celebrations. The Volunteers’ Week Thank You Fund 2026, launched by Third Sector Leaders Kirklees, provides grants of up to £150 to eligible organisations.

The fund is designed specifically for volunteer-led community groups that have no paid staff, ensuring that resources reach those who rely entirely on the efforts of unpaid helpers. Organisations can use the money to cover costs for events, gifts, certificates, or other ways to show appreciation for their volunteers during the national awareness week, which takes place from 1 June to 7 June 2026.

This initiative builds on previous success for the local charity, which acts as the official Volunteer Centre for Kirklees. In 2025, the fund helped more than 35 local groups show their gratitude to over 800 volunteers across the district. Nationally, the National Council for Voluntary Organisations coordinates the annual event to recognise the millions of adults across the UK who give their time to support their communities.

Groups interested in the funding must submit their applications by Friday 8 May 2026. Further information regarding the application process can be found on the Third Sector Leaders Kirklees website.
