The Middlesbrough Foodbank is hosting a fundraising event on Friday 8 May 2026 to support its efforts to provide essential items to local residents. The event will take place at 7pm at St Cuthberts Parish Centre, located on Stokesley Road in Marton, and will feature a performance by The Oddell Singers.

The charity is seeking to bolster its supplies of non-food essentials, specifically toiletries, pet food, and laundry pods. Organisers have noted that they are currently out of stock of laundry pods entirely. Donations of these items can be dropped off at the charity’s warehouse at Unit 14-15 Newport Way, Cannon Park Industrial Estate.

Recent data shows that the demand for the foodbank’s services remains high, despite a 27% decrease in the number of people helped between 2024 and 2025. Last year, the organisation supported 11,086 people, compared to 15,270 in 2024. This context comes against a backdrop of significant local hardship, as 41% of children in Middlesbrough live below the poverty line, the highest rate in the North East. In the town’s Central district, that figure rises to 67%.

Tickets for the upcoming fundraiser are priced at £7.00 and can be requested by emailing [email protected]. The evening will include a raffle, a tombola, and a licensed bar for attendees.

While this event supports the wider network of distribution centres managed by the Trussell Trust, other organisations in the area continue to operate independent initiatives. The Middlesbrough Central Mosque, located at 30 Southfield Road, runs its own food bank every Wednesday from 9:30am to 10:30am for those in need.
