The Little Theatre Gateshead has updated its summer 2026 programme with several new performances for residents in Tyne and Wear. The volunteer-run venue, located at 1-4 Saltwell View, has added five shows to its calendar, while the comedy play The Unfriend has been removed from the upcoming lineup.

The new events begin on 2 May, 2026, with a 70s-themed one man show titled Micky Glamz. This will be followed by a production of the play Murder Story on 8 June, 2026. Audiences can also look forward to Mix-Up Musicals on 18 June, 2026, and a Take That tribute show on 26 June, 2026.

The summer season concludes with a double bill featuring Ivor Cutler and the Shinytribe, presented by the performer Tim Dalling on 24 July, 2026. These performances continue the venue’s long-standing tradition of hosting diverse acts in a space that has been home to the Progressive Players since the building first opened in 1943.

The theatre, which sits adjacent to Saltwell Park, is managed by the Progressive Players, an amateur drama club formed in 1920. The facility offers seating for approximately 188 people and recently expanded its capabilities in 2021 by opening a new studio space suitable for rehearsals and cabaret performances.
