The Oxford Community Emergency Foodbank has announced it will be closed for the upcoming May bank holidays on Monday 4 May and Monday 25 May 2026. Residents who rely on the service for emergency food parcels are advised to plan ahead and collect their supplies before these closure dates.

The charity operates three CEF Cafés across the city where clients can collect food. These sites include the Barton Community Church at the Barton Neighbourhood Centre, St Francis Church on Hollow Way, and the Littlemore Baptist Church. To receive support, individuals must be referred by a recognised agency such as a GP, health visitor, Citizens Advice, clergy member, or community worker, as the organisation cannot accept self-referrals.

Each emergency parcel provided by the charity is designed to contain enough nutritionally balanced food for three days. These parcels are supplemented by fresh fruit and vegetables sourced through the Oxford Food Hub. The closures come at a time of increased pressure on local support services, with foodbanks across Oxfordshire reporting rising demand due to the cost of living crisis.

Anyone needing to contact the charity regarding these service changes or other enquiries can call 01993 810 622 or 07876 128 435, or email [email protected].
