Residents in Milton Keynes are invited to a half-day workshop on Wednesday 13 May 2026 to discuss how national plans to address violence against women and girls can be put into action locally. The event, hosted by Fawcett MK, will focus on introducing the UK government’s national Freedom from Violence and Abuse strategy.
The national strategy, published on 18 December 2025, sets an ambition to halve violence against women and girls over the next decade. The upcoming workshop aims to explore how these goals can be implemented within the city. The session will take place from 10:00am until 1:00pm at the C2C Women’s Centre, located in Margaret Powell House on Midsummer Boulevard.
This initiative comes as local support services face significant demand. Data indicates that referrals to the Sexual Assault and Abuse Support Service Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes have increased by 224% compared to pre-pandemic levels. To improve coordination and response, the Violence Against Women and Girls Alliance for Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes was formed in June 2024 and formally launched in November 2024.
The workshop is supported by C2C, the Sexual Assault and Abuse Support Service, and Community Action: MK. Members of the public and professionals interested in learning about available support or contributing to community safety improvements can book their places via Eventbrite.
