A 19-year-old man has been charged in connection with a drive-by shooting at a Huddersfield garage that left three men injured last year. Joe Garrity, of Bain Street, Swinton, Manchester, is facing three counts of attempted murder and several weapons-related charges following the attack at S Autos Garage on Bulay Road.
The incident took place at approximately 3:02pm on 22 July 2025. During the attack, a black Nissan Juke displaying false registration plates was driven past the premises, with shots fired at the building. The vehicle, which had visible damage to its sides and bonnet, was later recovered by the West Yorkshire Police Homicide and Major Enquiry Team.
Three men were wounded during the shooting. A 30-year-old man sustained a foot injury, a 36-year-old was shot in the knee, and a 20-year-old suffered gunshot wounds to his arm and stomach. None of the injuries were reported as life-threatening at the time.
Garrity has been held in custody and is expected to appear at Leeds Magistrates’ Court on 29 April 2026. The charges against him include possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, possession of a prohibited weapon, handling stolen goods, driving whilst disqualified and three counts of attempted murder.
The shooting occurred in Thornton Lodge, an area of Huddersfield that has been identified in local data as having elevated crime rates.
