A 28-year-old man remains in serious condition following a hit-and-run incident in Blackpool that has led to an attempted murder charge. The victim was walking on Condor Grove at approximately 3am on 27 April 2026 when a Volkswagen Passat mounted the pavement and struck him.

Following the collision, Lancashire Constabulary launched an investigation into the incident. Detective Inspector James Wilde noted that evidence gathered by officers suggests the collision was an intentional act, which led to the classification of the case as attempted murder.

Niall Reynolds, 23, of Glenmore Drive, Coventry, has been charged with attempted murder. He also faces additional charges of driving a motor vehicle while above the alcohol limit, driving without insurance, driving without a licence, and two counts of criminal damage. Following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, Reynolds has been remanded in custody to appear before Lancaster Magistrates Court on 29 April 2026.

A second individual, a 22-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent, was also arrested in connection with the incident. He has since been released under investigation while further enquiries continue.
