Residents in Torquay can look forward to a sunny start to the week before conditions turn unsettled for the bank holiday weekend. According to the Met Office, those planning outdoor activities should aim to get outside early as the weather is expected to shift significantly after Friday.

Thursday, 30 April, will bring sunny intervals with temperatures reaching 16°C. While the sun will be out, conditions may feel cooler in exposed areas due to strong east-northeasterly winds, which could reach gusts of up to 35mph. Friday, 1 May, is expected to be a warmer day with temperatures hitting 19°C. Winds will be noticeably lighter, with maximum gusts around 22mph, though humidity will be higher at 90 per cent.

The outlook for the bank holiday weekend, spanning Saturday 2 May through Monday 4 May, shows an increase in clouds and a rising risk of rain. According to Met Office Tom Crabtree, conditions will become more unsettled from Friday as rain and showers spread in from the southwest. These showers could become heavy and may include thunder.

Residents should also be aware of health and safety factors during the week. Pollen levels are currently high for Thursday and Friday, dipping to moderate on Saturday before climbing back to high on Sunday and Monday. Additionally, UV levels remain at a moderate level throughout the period. The national weather service advises that residents use sunscreen, particularly during the midday hours, to protect against sun exposure.
