Luton residents are set to enjoy two days of warm and sunny weather before conditions turn unsettled for the Bank Holiday weekend, according to the Met Office.

Today, Thursday 30 April 2026, the town is seeing sunny skies with temperatures reaching 20°C and a less than 5% risk of rain. Those heading outdoors should be aware that the Met Office reports high pollen levels in the region, particularly for oak pollen, which may impact hay fever sufferers. With UV levels remaining at a moderate level, officials advise taking care during midday hours and using sunscreen.

Friday 1 May is expected to be the warmest day of the week, with temperatures climbing to 24°C. While the day will start sunny, residents may see some sunny intervals by the afternoon. However, the weather will shift as the weekend progresses. Saturday will feature sunny intervals during the day, but rain becomes increasingly likely from late afternoon onwards, with the probability of precipitation rising to 80% by late evening. Temperatures are expected to drop to around 13°C.

The unsettled weather will continue into Sunday 3 May, which is forecast to bring heavy rain. Daytime temperatures will reach a maximum of 16°C, and humidity is expected to remain high at 96%. Tom Crabtree from the Met Office noted that “by Friday, conditions are expected to become more unsettled, with rain and showers spreading in from the southwest, some of which could be heavy and possibly thundery.”
