Police officers from West Midlands Police arrested two men and seized illegal drugs during a raid at a shop on Lichfield Street in Wolverhampton city centre on 29 April 2026. The operation, which involved support from Wolverhampton City Council Trading Standards, was launched following intelligence regarding suspected drug dealing at the premises.

During the search, which was assisted by a sniffer dog, officers recovered a quantity of cannabis edibles and cannabis vapes. A number of suspected counterfeit items were also discovered at the site. The two men, aged 20 and 43, were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply drugs and remain in police custody for questioning.

The raid was carried out as part of a 24-hour initiative known as Op Advance, which targets gang activity, retail crime, and anti-social behaviour across the city. Residents can expect to see an increased police presence in the area as the force continues its commitment to addressing drug-related issues.

This action comes as regional figures indicate a reduction in drug-related neighbourhood crime. According to the West Midlands Combating Drugs and Alcohol Partnership, such offences dropped by 19 per cent over a 12-month period, with trafficking offences falling by 14.3 per cent.
