Local charities, community groups, and organisations in Southend-on-Sea have the opportunity to secure a £1,000 funding boost this May through a national partnership programme. The Southend Association of Voluntary Services (SAVS) is encouraging local groups to participate in the Tesco Community Pledge, which is offering five individual £1,000 prizes to organisations across the UK.

To qualify for the funding, local groups must first register with the easyfundraising platform. Once registered, organisations need to encourage their volunteers and supporters to shop at Tesco or F&F Clothing through the easyfundraising website or app during the month of May. Every purchase made through the platform during this period increases an organisation’s chances of receiving the £1,000 bonus.

SAVS, which serves as the local Council for Voluntary Services, currently supports more than 400 charities and community organisations in the area. The charity provides a range of resources to help local groups reach their full potential, having supported over 470 organisations through training, events, and digital engagement over the past year.

This latest funding opportunity complements the work of the Community Investment Board, which is hosted by SAVS and supported by Southend-on-Sea City Council. Since its inception in 2021, the board has awarded more than £2.2 million to 243 local projects. Winners of the current Tesco Community Pledge funding will be notified by email no later than 7 June 2026.
