Reported crime in Rickmansworth and District reached a 12-month high in March 2026, as new figures from Hertfordshire Constabulary show a sharp increase in violent offences and anti-social behaviour. A total of 265 crimes were recorded across the area during the month, marking a 28 per cent rise compared to the 207 incidents reported in February.

The latest data indicates that violence and sexual offences were the most common issues, climbing nearly 30 per cent from 78 incidents in February to 101 in March. Reports of anti-social behaviour also saw a significant surge, increasing from 27 to 48 cases over the same period. Other notable crime categories for March included shoplifting with 26 reports and other theft with 19.

Despite the recent spike, the town continues to rank as one of the safest medium-sized towns in Hertfordshire. According to CrimeRate analysis, crime rates in the area remain 22 per cent lower than the average for the East of England. However, local data shows that the risk of crime has trended upward by 9 per cent over the last year, with long-term trends showing an increase in violence and sexual offences of 137 per cent over the past three years.

Efforts to address these issues are coordinated by the Three Rivers Community Safety Partnership, a multi-agency group that includes Three Rivers District Council, police, and other local services. Residents who have non-emergency concerns are encouraged to contact their local Neighbourhood Policing Team by calling 101 or by submitting a report online.
