Residents in Fleet have the opportunity to join Fleet Town Council as councillors to help shape local decisions. Following recent local elections where fewer candidates stood than there were seats available, vacancies have opened in the Courtmoor and Fleet Central wards.

The council is looking to fill these positions through a process called co-option. Those interested in representing their community must submit their applications by 5pm on 12 May 2026.

To be eligible, applicants must be at least 18 years old and a citizen of the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth, or the European Union. Candidates must also meet one of four criteria: being registered to vote in Fleet, having owned or rented property in the area for the past 12 months, having their primary place of work in the town, or having lived within 4.8 kilometres of the parish for the previous year.

Successful applicants will be invited to make a short presentation to the council. During this session, they will outline their skills, their involvement in the community, and how they intend to contribute to the role of Town Councillor.

These vacancies follow uncontested elections for both wards. In Courtmoor Ward, Paul Stephen Walter Einchcomb, Alan John Oliver, and Janet Joyce Stanton were elected unopposed. In Fleet Central, the elected candidates were Emil Engstrom, Andy Parker, Alan Howling ‘Laud’ Hope, and Paddy Powell.
