Residents of Lydd will have the opportunity to vote for two new town councillors on Thursday 4 June 2026. The election, which was announced by Folkestone & Hythe District Council, will fill the remaining seats on the Lydd Town Council.

Any residents interested in standing for election as a candidate must submit their nomination papers to the returning officer by 4pm on Thursday 7 May 2026. These papers should be delivered to the district council civic centre.

For those planning to cast a vote, there are two key requirements. Residents must be registered to vote by midnight on Monday 18 May 2026, which can be done through the national portal at GOV.UK. Additionally, all voters must bring an acceptable form of photo identification with them to their polling station on election day.

This upcoming vote follows a previous election on 16 April 2026, which was uncontested and resulted in the appointment of Tony Hills as a councillor without a poll. Lydd Town Council currently serves the 2023-2027 term with approximately 14 councillors, led by Mayor Bob Jones.
