With the local elections just one week away, residents of Oxford are being encouraged to check their assigned polling station ahead of voting on Thursday 7 May 2026. This year marks a significant moment for the city, as voters will head to the polls to decide one seat in each of the 24 wards in what will be the final election for Oxford City Council before it is abolished and replaced by a new unitary authority in the coming years.

Polling stations will be open to the public from 7am to 10pm on election day. While all registered voters have been sent a poll card by mail detailing their allocated polling station, those who have misplaced their card can still participate in the vote. If you are unsure where to go, you can confirm your specific station by using the Find My Polling Station tool provided by the council.

The council is reminding residents that they must bring an accepted form of photo ID to the polling station to receive a ballot paper. Accepted documents include passports, driving licences, and certain concessionary travel passes. Anyone without an accepted form of ID will not be able to vote in person.

Following the close of polls, the ballot count will take place at Oxford Town Hall. Results will be published by the office of Caroline Green, the Returning Officer, as each ward is declared throughout the night.
