The Rockin’ Roadrunner Festival is returning to Abington Park in Northampton, offering a day of live music and entertainment specifically designed for people with disabilities. Funded by Northampton Town Council, the event is scheduled for Sunday 24 May 2026.

The festival, which is a registered charity, provides an inclusive environment that has been a staple of the community since it was founded by Christine Whiley in 2007. Inspired by her daughter Frances, who has a learning disability, the initiative sought to fill a gap in live music experiences for adults with disabilities. Nicki Clarke, the current chair of the organisation, notes that the festival remains one of the few events providing such a dedicated space for these music fans.

While the event takes place in the same location as the traditional Bands in the Park programme, it offers a different experience for residents. The festival will feature a range of performances and activities. For those attending, blue badge holder priority parking will be available on site through the Green Gate entrance on Ardington Road starting from 11:30 am.

The council continues to support this event as part of its wider commitment to providing free, accessible entertainment for all families in the town. Councillor Keith Holland-Delamere, chair of the community services committee, has highlighted the importance of these community events in providing inclusive opportunities for local residents.

In addition to its annual festival, the organisation holds quarterly club nights at The Roadmender in Northampton. More information on the group’s work can be found through the West Northamptonshire Council local services directory.
