The Milton Keynes Museum will host its annual History Festival over the weekend of 9th-10th May 2026, inviting residents to explore nearly 2,000 years of local heritage.

Located on McConnell Drive in Wolverton, the museum will be open from 10.30am to 4.30pm both days. The event is included with standard museum admission, with under-5s admitted for free. Residents who hold an annual ticket can use them for free re-entry throughout the weekend.

The festival grounds will feature more than 100 re-enactors who will portray historical figures from the Roman, Medieval, Civil War, and Victorian periods. Visitors can participate in hands-on activities such as pottery and artefact handling, or watch demonstrations covering smelting, Roman leatherwork, and women’s self-defence.

New for 2026, the Ancient Craft group will join the festival to demonstrate flint knapping, Stone Age fire lighting, and bronze casting. Museum Director Bill Griffiths described the event as an absolute highlight of the museum’s annual calendar, encouraging families to attend and engage with history at their own pace.

The museum operates as an independent charity and is supported by more than 200 volunteers alongside a small team of paid staff. Visitors are encouraged to pre-book their tickets online or pay upon arrival at the museum.
