A Watford flat linked to drug crime and violence will remain closed to the public for at least another three months after local authorities successfully secured an extension on a court order. The property at St Marks House on Churchfields Road remains off-limits to everyone except authorised personnel until late July 2026.

The initial closure was granted at St Albans Magistrates’ Court on 30 January 2026 following a joint operation involving Hertfordshire Constabulary, Watford Borough Council, and Origin Housing. The site had become a source of frequent complaints from neighbours regarding persistent anti-social behaviour and serious violence.

Watford Neighbourhood Inspector Simon Cooper said the extension provides much-needed relief for local residents who had been living in fear due to activities at the address. The extension was confirmed by the court on 29 April 2026 under the powers of the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.

As the legal process continues, officials are working toward a permanent solution for the site. Origin Housing, which integrated with Places for People on 1 April 2026, has confirmed it is pursuing a full repossession of the property through the courts.
