The Joseph Rowntree Theatre in York is expanding its in-house programming and is now inviting local creatives to pitch shows for the 2027 season. Under the new Joseph Rowntree Theatre Presents banner, the venue is looking for three productions to be staged next year, specifically for the periods of 14-20 March, 29 June to 3 July, and 12-18 September.

The theatre is welcoming proposals for plays, small-scale musicals, and original work. Directors are encouraged to apply regardless of their prior experience, as the theatre is focusing on qualities such as leadership, creative thinking, and the ability to manage a production budget. This initiative builds upon the work of the Joseph Rowntree Theatre Company, which has raised over £60,000 to support the venue since 2018.

Beyond directing opportunities, the theatre is also seeking volunteers to assist with administrative, marketing, and production support roles to help run these new shows. Interested individuals must submit their pitches by midnight on 31 May 2026.
