Visitors to the Wyvern Theatre in Swindon will now notice additional security checks in place when attending performances and events. The venue operator, Trafalgar Entertainment, has introduced the new measures to help keep everyone safe and recommends that guests arrive earlier than usual to ensure they can enter the building comfortably.

This update applies to all visitors and coincides with upcoming performances, including the musical Barnum, which runs from 5 May to 9 May 2026. The same security notice is also appearing on the website for the Swindon Arts Centre, indicating that the policy is being rolled out across venues managed by the company.

These security enhancements follow standard practices currently seen across the wider United Kingdom theatre industry. Similar measures, including recommendations for early arrival, are used by other operators such as LW Theatres. While the notice is a new addition for visitors, the theatre’s existing terms and conditions have previously included provisions allowing staff to conduct security searches and manage items that could cause disruption.

The Wyvern Theatre, which is owned by Swindon Borough Council, has served the community since 1971. Although there have been ongoing discussions regarding the future of the 635-seat building and plans for a potential replacement venue in the town, current operations continue as the theatre prepares for its next series of shows.
