Cleveland Police are appealing for witnesses after a collision on Stockton Road in Middlesbrough on Thursday 30 April 2026 left a passenger hospitalised and resulted in the driver fleeing the scene.

At approximately 2:50pm, a Mini One struck two parked vehicles before overturning and hitting a third vehicle near Macmillan Academy. A female passenger was taken to hospital with a head injury that is not believed to be life-threatening. The driver of the Mini One left the area before officers arrived.

According to Cleveland Police, officers are seeking any information, dash cam, or CCTV footage from members of the public who may have captured the incident. Those with information are asked to contact the force on 101, quoting reference number 081369.

Under the Road Traffic Act 1988, leaving the scene of a collision is a criminal offence. Penalties for failing to stop and exchange details can include up to six months in prison, an unlimited fine, and penalty points.

This incident follows broader road safety concerns in the region. Data shows that 616 people were injured on roads in Cleveland between April 2025 and March 2026, with police and local officials noting that speeding, as well as drink or drug driving, remain significant contributing factors to local accidents.
