Aspiring entrepreneurs and business owners in Swadlincote can access a series of free training sessions throughout June 2026, ahead of a local business showcase held on The Delph this summer. These events, provided by the South Derbyshire District Council, are designed to assist residents in starting or growing their ventures.

The workshop series begins on 1 June 2026 with a session titled Thinking of Starting in Business. This event will be held from 5:30pm to 8:00pm at the Swadlincote Innovation Centre at Bob Wheeler House, George Holmes Business Park. It is aimed at those who are considering self-employment or have recently started their own company. Other training opportunities include a workshop on Mastering Graphic Design with Canva and Adobe Express at Oakland Village on 2 June, followed by a Marketing Workshop for new and established businesses on 8 June, also held at the Swadlincote Innovation Centre from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.

Business Adviser David Richards noted that these events have already supported hundreds of new businesses in the area, helping them get off to a strong start. Because space for these sessions is limited, participants are asked to register in advance by emailing [email protected] or calling 01283 595791.

Following the workshop programme, the annual Swadlincote Small Business Showcase will take place on The Delph on Saturday 4 July 2026, between 9am and 2pm. The event, which is in its third year, is organised by the South Derbyshire Business Advice Service in partnership with Keelie Briggs Marketing Consultancy and SW Markets. Residents and visitors are encouraged to attend to support local traders and entrepreneurs.
