Northern Trains is updating its network timetables starting on Sunday 17 May 2026, bringing minor changes to services in York to help improve overall punctuality.

The adjustments are part of a twice-yearly national update coordinated by National Rail. Following a significant overhaul of the system last December, the company describes this latest update as a period of consistency and fine-tuning rather than major service alterations.

Passengers using the service between Leeds and York via Harrogate should expect minor time adjustments designed to improve performance. According to the Harrogate District Chamber of Commerce, these changes will not impact total journey times but are intended to increase service reliability.

Toby Higgins, head of business performance at the operator, advises travellers to check their journey details before they head out. Some services will depart a few minutes earlier than they do under the current schedule to ensure trains reach their destinations on time.

These new schedules will remain in place until Saturday 12 December 2026.
