Dorset Police have made a second arrest following a serious assault in Bournemouth that left a 19-year-old man hospitalised. Officers were called to Old Christchurch Road at 12:30am on Tuesday 28 April 2026 after the man was assaulted outside Barbara’s Bier Haus.
The victim remains in hospital receiving treatment for his injuries, which are currently described as serious but stable. His family is being kept updated by investigators as the police enquiries continue.
Following initial enquiries, a 25-year-old man from Bournemouth was arrested on suspicion of assault by beating and affray, and has since been released on bail. A second man, aged 22 and also from Bournemouth, was subsequently arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent and remains in police custody.
A spokesperson for the bar stated that the alleged assault was not connected to the venue and noted that the business takes the safety of its customers seriously.
Detective Inspector Ian Allen of Bournemouth CID is leading the investigation and is urging any witnesses who have not yet spoken to officers to come forward. Anyone with information is asked to contact the police online or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55260060385. Information can also be provided anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers.
