Telford & Wrekin Council has expanded its Travel Telford on-demand transport service to include Telford College and the village of Longdon-on-Tern. Announced on 5 May 2026, the move aims to provide a more sustainable way to travel for residents and students in areas with limited conventional bus services.
The on-demand service does not follow a fixed timetable or route. Instead, passengers can use the Travel Telford On-Demand app to book journeys when and where they need them. Users can also arrange travel by calling 01952 384545. Journeys must be booked at least 30 minutes in advance and are available Monday to Friday, between 8am and 5.30pm. The cost is £2 for adults and £1 for passengers under 19.
This expansion builds on existing zones in Ironbridge, Madeley, Horsehay, and Lightmoor. The service connects residents to key local destinations, including Telford Central Station and the Princess Royal Hospital. Caroline Bastow, Vice Principal of Support and Performance at Telford College, welcomed the change, noting that it will be particularly helpful for students who finish their studies outside of normal college hours.
Councillor Ollie Vickers, Cabinet Member for the Economy and Transport, described the expansion as a step toward making public transport more accessible and responsive to the needs of residents. The council is currently working toward a goal of 1 million passenger journeys across the entire Travel Telford network throughout 2026.
