Residents in York should prepare for changes to swimming access at York Sport Village on Wednesday 20 May 2026, as the facility hosts a children’s triathlon event.

Both the 25-metre competition pool and the 18-metre training pool will be closed to the public and members from 8am until 7.30pm. While daytime swimming sessions are affected, the facility has confirmed that evening lessons will continue as normal from 4pm to 7pm, with general pool access resuming at 7.30pm.

The event is organised by the Brownlee Foundation, a non-competitive initiative that introduces primary school children to swimming, cycling, and running. This marks the second year the event has been held at the site.

Visitors planning to use the centre on 20 May 2026 are advised to allow extra time for their journey. Staff anticipate high footfall and increased pedestrian activity on the site throughout the day.
