Folkestone & Hythe District Council launched the new interactive map on 7 May 2026, which provides details on dog-friendly locations, route planning, and information regarding beach access rules that run from 1 May to 30 September.
To support the launch and offer guidance to residents, the council is hosting the second annual Paws for Thought community event. The free gathering will take place at Radnor Park on Sunday 7 June 2026, from 10am to 3pm, featuring an agility course, a dog show, and various stalls.
Council officers from environmental enforcement and community safety teams will be present alongside representatives from the Folkestone RSPCA to answer questions about responsible pet ownership. They will provide advice on local dog control regulations, which require owners to keep their animals under control and clear up any mess. Failing to follow these rules can result in a £100 on-the-spot fine, while cases taken to court can lead to penalties of up to £1,000.
Councillor Mike Blakemore, who serves as the Cabinet Member for Community and Collaboration, said the event is an opportunity for the community to come together and learn about the support available.
