A 40-year-old man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder following a collision in Norwich that left a cyclist with life-threatening injuries. The incident took place on Chartwell Road on the afternoon of Friday 8 May 2026.
David Morgan, of Bedford, appeared at Norwich Magistrates’ Court on Monday 11 May 2026. In addition to the charge of attempted murder, he faces counts of dangerous driving, driving with excess alcohol, and drug driving. He has been remanded in custody to appear at a later date.
The victim, a man in his 50s, remains in hospital in critical condition. Norfolk Constabulary continues to investigate the circumstances of the collision and is appealing for anyone who was driving on Chartwell Road or Mousehold Lane between 5pm and 5.10pm on 8 May to come forward.
