Theatre-goers in Basingstoke will have the chance to step into the world of the classic sitcom ‘Allo ‘Allo this September, as Basingstoke Amateur Theatrical Society introduces a new immersive dining experience for its upcoming production. The show, which takes place from 3 to 5 September 2026 at the Central Studio, allows audience members to enjoy a meal while the comedy unfolds directly around them.

The production, directed by Dave Edwards, is based on the popular BBC television series written by Jeremy Lloyd and David Croft. The stage adaptation brings to life the story of René, a café owner in occupied France, and his comical run-ins with various characters. The rights for this amateur performance are provided by Concord Theatricals.

Those attending the production can choose between two seating options. Standard tickets are available for £23, while the immersive dining tickets are priced at £29. Guests selecting the dining option will be seated within a recreation of the café featured in the show and will be served themed food during the performance. Performances are set for 7.30pm each evening, with an additional matinee show on Saturday at 2.30pm.

The Basingstoke Amateur Theatrical Society is a non-profit group founded in 1958. As an entirely volunteer-run organisation, the society relies on ticket sales to continue its work in the community. This move to offer a dining experience reflects a wider trend in the UK towards more interactive entertainment formats. The Central Studio, located at Queen Mary’s College, provides a flexible performance space for the society.
