Patients, staff and visitors travelling to the Churchill Hospital in Oxford now have direct access to the site following the launch of an enhanced 600 bus service on 3 May 2026. Operated by the Oxford Bus Company, the updated route now features stops at the hospital’s main entrance, Sobell House, the Oxford Centre for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism and the east entrance.
Previously, the service stopped only on Roosevelt Drive, which required passengers to walk further to reach specific buildings on the hospital grounds. The new route connects several major locations, including Oxford Rail Station, Redbridge Park & Ride, Oxford Science Park, Headington Hospitals and Thornhill Park & Ride.
Lisa Hofen, Chief Estates and Facilities Officer at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said the change is a positive step for the community. She noted that reliable public transport is essential for patients attending appointments and for staff travelling to work, helping to improve the overall experience for everyone using the hospital services.
The service, which receives financial support from Oxfordshire County Council, runs every 30 minutes during the day from Monday to Saturday. Evening and Sunday services operate on an hourly basis. Passengers can also take advantage of the government’s National Bus Fare Cap scheme, which limits the cost of any single journey to £3.
