Residents of Walton-on-Thames should prepare for a period of wet and windy weather this week, with the worst conditions expected to arrive this Wednesday, 13 May. According to the Met Office, the area will see unsettled conditions as low-pressure systems move through the region.

Wednesday is set to be the wettest and windiest day of the week. There is up to a 90% chance of rain between 9am and 4pm, and wind gusts are expected to reach 36mph. While temperatures will generally range between 14°C and 17°C throughout the week, wind chill will make it feel significantly colder on Wednesday morning, with temperatures dropping to around 6°C. Because of the expected wind, residents may want to secure any loose items in their gardens.

The Met Office long-range forecast notes that changeable weather is likely to persist through the middle of May, with further periods of rain or showers possible. However, the outlook improves by the weekend. Saturday 16 May and Sunday 17 May are expected to be drier with much lighter winds, with maximum gusts reaching only 17mph to 20mph.

Despite the cloud cover and rain, the Met Office warns that the UV index will remain at high levels for most of the week, though it will drop to moderate by Sunday. Residents are advised to take precautions during midday hours, such as wearing sunscreen and seeking shade when necessary.
