Residents in Norwich can attend a series of free community support events this week at The Forum Norwich while the local library undergoes a major refurbishment. Despite the Norfolk and Norwich Millennium Library being closed for its £1.3 million upgrade, events are continuing in The Gallery and Outside Spaces within the building.

On Wednesday 13 May 2026, two sessions will be held to provide connection and learning opportunities for the community. From 11.30am to 1.30pm, autistic adults are invited to the Autism Just a Cuppa event in The Gallery, which aims to provide a warm and welcoming environment for making new friends. Later in the afternoon, from 4pm to 5pm, the English Exchange will offer a friendly conversation space for people learning English as a second language. No booking is required for either of these sessions.

The support continues on Thursday 14 May 2026 with a Cuppa Care event, running from 10am to 3pm in the Outside Spaces area. This initiative, which is part of a county-wide effort to reduce loneliness and social isolation, allows residents to speak with advisors from Hear for Norfolk and Age UK Norwich.

Advisors will be on hand to discuss hearing help and other support services available to older people. Hear for Norfolk, which operates as the Norfolk Deaf Association, works to improve the quality of life for those with hearing loss, while Age UK Norwich focuses on creating an age-friendly city. The Cuppa Care project is delivered by a partnership of organisations, including Vision Norfolk, Norfolk and Waveney Mind, the Wellbeing Service, Norfolk CAB, Age UK Norfolk, and the Norfolk LGBT+ Project.
