Residents in Peterborough now have an opportunity to share their thoughts on local arts, heritage, and creative activities through the new Be Heard 2.0 survey. The initiative, announced by Peterborough Libraries & Archives on 11 May 2026, is part of a broader city strategy led by the Peterborough Cultural Alliance.
The survey is open to anyone aged 16 or older living in the city and aims to gather feedback on how people currently interact with local cultural opportunities. Whether residents are frequent event-goers or feel disconnected from these activities, the feedback will help shape future plans for the city. The survey is available for participation until 31 May 2026.
This engagement effort arrives as the community continues to follow discussions regarding the future of library services. Peterborough City Council previously proposed a reduction in the number of static libraries to address significant financial pressures, including a forecast budget gap for the 2025-26 period. Those original proposals suggested closing seven of the city’s ten static branches to achieve annual savings of £314,000.
In response to community concerns, the council decided to pause those plans to conduct a thorough review of local needs. As part of this, the council previously invited residents to share their views on library services during a consultation held between June and August 2025.
While discussions regarding library facilities remain a topic of local interest, current library members continue to have full access to services. Membership remains free, and the library provides 24/7 digital access to a wide range of eBooks, eAudiobooks, eNewspapers, and eMagazines through the BorrowBox platform.
