A community celebration will take place in Milton Keynes on 3 June 2026 to honour the thousands of residents who give their time to support local causes. Organised by Community Action: MK, the event will be held at the MK Rose in Campbell Park from 4:00pm until 6:00pm.
The gathering is part of the nationwide Volunteers’ Week, which runs from 1 to 7 June 2026. Officials estimate that 84,500 people in Milton Keynes volunteer regularly, a significant contribution that was highlighted as a distinctive feature of the area when it was granted city status in 2022.
Annette Parmar, the volunteering lead at Community Action: MK, described the event as a way to express gratitude to those who contribute their skills and care to the city. She noted that volunteering has long been part of the local identity, and the event aims to create a shared moment for those who make the city a more compassionate place.
The celebration is open to all residents, including those currently involved in local initiatives and anyone interested in finding out more about volunteering. Attendees can expect a variety of community stalls, performances, and food, as well as opportunities to connect with various local groups.
Among those participating are members of The Parks Trust, which relies on a network of around 240 volunteers to help manage thousands of acres of green space. These volunteers assist with educational programmes, events, and general upkeep, helping the charity foster opportunities for the community to explore and care for the city.
The event venue itself, the MK Rose, was created by artist Gordon Young in 2014. It consists of 106 granite pillars arranged in a circle based on the design of a flower, providing a dedicated public space for civic gatherings.
