Residents in Sefton are being invited to submit questions for a public meeting on 24 June 2026, where they can hold senior police leadership to account on local safety concerns.

The Police and Crime Commissioner for Merseyside, Emily Spurrell, is hosting the live-streamed event to allow members of the public to hear directly from Chief Constable Rob Carden and his senior team. While the meeting will focus on stop and search, use of force, and the investigation of crimes, residents are welcome to submit questions regarding any policing or community safety issue.

The event comes at a time of heightened public interest in police activity in the area. In April 2026, local police extended special stop and search powers in Bootle and Netherton following a serious stabbing incident involving a 14-year-old boy on Stanley Road. The upcoming scrutiny meeting provides a platform for residents to discuss these policing tactics and the broader approach to community safety.

Those wishing to participate must submit their questions by 2 June 2026. Submissions can be made via an online form or by post to the Mather Avenue Training Centre in Liverpool. Selected questions will be answered during the live broadcast, which begins at 1pm.

Regarding the opportunity for public feedback, Emily Spurrell noted: “Your questions and opinions matter to me and can help to make Merseyside a safer place for everyone.”
